Nonviolent Peaceforce is an international non-governmental organisation working to protect civilians in areas of violent conflict through unarmed civilian peacekeeping. With support offices in Brussels and Minneapolis and projects in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Sudan, Nonviolent Peaceforce is a dynamic growing organisation.

We are looking to hire a Chief Financial Officer based in our office in Brussels, Belgium, and working with our offices across the world. As a key member of our leadership team, the CFO will be accountable for overseeing all financial matters of the organisation. The CFO reports to the Executive Director and will line manage key finance staff in the various NP offices worldwide. S/he will also work with the NP Treasurer on the International Governing Council.

The CFO will oversee the strengthening of NP's accounting, grants and budget management capacities to meet recent and anticipated growth and ensure compliance to appropriate legal and generally accepted accounting practices and donor requirements.

Essential qualifications include:

* 5 years financial management experience at a senior level;
* a degree or equivalent in financial management;
* advanced excel skills;
* experience managing restricted funds;
* accountancy qualification;
* fluency in English (both written and oral); and
* a commitment to organizational and procedural discipline.

Also required is a comprehensive knowledge of financial accounting, management accounting, grants management, information technologies, with the ability to keep abreast of changes in the international non-profit world. Candidate must possess strong analytical and conceptual skills.

Desirable qualifications include 10 years of the above experience, experience designing and setting up financial systems, experience managing a global finance department with multiple currencies, advanced accounting software skills, and NGO experience. The desirable candidate has a comfort and experience with cultural differences and capitalizes on strengths that can be realized in effective cross-cultural collaboration.

Advanced qualifications include 15 years of the above experience, working in NGO sector with multiple projects, and a solid understanding of the type of work that NP does.

International travel is required (including areas experiencing violent conflict).

An existing work permit or a reasonable likelihood to obtain such a permit, to work in the EU is required as well as a current passport.
