SUSTAINABILITY CAMPAIGN INTERN: Interested intern candidates have the opportunity to work with a consortium whose members include Google, Intel, Microsoft, and the World Wildlife Fund this summer in Portland, Oregon. These organizations and other Fortune 500 companies will be developing and launching “Power Down for the Planet†in the fall of 2010 — and you have the chance to be a part of creating it. Join the movement and help us build a campaign that brings college and university students from around the world together to help reduce the CO2 emissions created from computing.

About the Power Down for the Planet Campaign and Internship

Power Down for the Planet is a consumer marketing campaign created by Climate Savers Computing Initiative (CSCI) aimed at college administrations and students. The goal of Power Down is to reduce the energy consumption of computers across campuses and dorm rooms around the world. EnviroMedia Social Marketing, a contractor to CSCI, is seeking a marketing intern to help them in their support of this campaign.

The candidate should have an eagerness to learn and gain experience in a fast-paced, collaborative agency environment focused on sustainability marketing and awareness campaigns. Candidate should have the following qualities: team player attitude, creative thinker, excellent interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask efficiently and change gears quickly.

Role may include but is not limited to:

-Potential site visits to Climate Savers Computing members' offices, including Microsoft and Intel, to learn and blog about their IT sustainability practices
-Participation in the development and implementation of a national collegiate-focused marketing campaign
-Writing and designing marketing copy/collateral for multiple mediums (print, Web, press) to support national marketing campaign
-Coordinating with work teams across consortium member companies who are comprised of multiple Fortune 500 technology companies
-Participation in the development of social media elements to support the campaign
-Compiling research for programs as needed
-Potential to participate in creating blog posts, crafting of press releases and media outreach to campus publications
-Interfacing with participating colleges for recruitment and campaign support

All applicants must:

-Be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited higher education institution in the United States
-Be entering his/her junior year or beyond AND be at least 18 years of age
-Be willing to live and work in Portland, Oregon, for the duration of the internship. It is anticipated that the position will last no longer than nine weeks, beginning June 14, 2010
-Pass a criminal background check
-Must be available to work up to 40 hours per week
-Demonstrate a passion for green IT and reducing carbon emissions associated with computing

The Power Down for the Planet Intern will be paid $9/hour for up to 40 hours/week. The Intern will be solely responsible for securing room and board for the duration of the internship. The intern may also seek course credit for this Internship through a college or university.
